On the occasion of World Oceans Day, the Campus of International Excellence · Campus do Mar organizes on Tuesday, June 8 at 12.00 h a virtual event to present the initiative “Scientists meet Artists” promoted by the Campus do Mar and the Marine Research Centre of Universidade de Vigo. The protagonists of this project will be present at the event: 12 professionals linked to the field of illustration who develop their work in Spain and Portugal and 12 researchers from the Campus do Mar belonging to the universities of Santiago de Compostela, Minho (Portugal) and Vigo and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography. The 12 pairs of illustrators and researchers have been collaborating in recent months to give life to 12 illustrative plates created and designed to disseminate scientific knowledge about the marine environment in order to promote oceanic literacy in society, especially among children.
The opening session will be attended by the guest illustrator Maria José Gajate artistically known as Mariajo Ilustrajo who will be in charge of opening the event together with Daniel Rey, Director of the Campus do Mar and Marine Research Centre of the Universidade de Vigo.
Once the opening session is over, the initiative will be presented by the Campus do Mar project managers, Noelia Estévez and Alberte Román./p>
Finally, an open Debate Forum will serve as a meeting point between the protagonists of this project and the audience. The Forum will be moderated by Maria José Garate and Alicia López Bruzos, predoctoral student at the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS).
